Paper bags making training

Such beautiful moments shared with #Women_and_Children_with_Albinism_in_Uganda. Thanks to Kyusa for the opportunity given to Sustainable Youth Development Foundation to train these lovely, beautiful hearted people with great passion to learn new skills.

In line with our mission statement of working to assist the youths and young people at grass root level to find access to sustainable development in society with due dignity to solve their own social-economic problems. On bench marking visit to set up “KENYA STAY ALLIANCE”, through LATEK STAY ALLIANCE UGANDA, SYDF was one of the member organisations that were visited by the WOMEN’s EMPOWERMENT LINK (WEL) team who appreciated the different skills SYDF equips young people with including paper bags making. Major interest was picked in paper bags making skill thus prompting WEL to include it in their women economic empowerment program as an additional package. In that regard SYDF was invited to Nakuru, Kenya to conduct the training for four days. The training was delivered to a group of 35 youths (PWDs) for four days through two different concepts of making paper bags that enable a trainee to make whatever size of paper bag they wish. It was hands on and highly participative training where very trainee was given opportunities to make their own paper bags as indicated in the photo gallery. During the training, the youth were also taken through finance and business management tips and creative thinking.
